Date of inception: December 2011 Duration of service: Approx. until March 2013Place of work: On site, 100 km south of Port Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaWeekend trips to Bahrain are possibleJob surroundings: Lahmeyer International (LI) has been contracted by the Saudi Electricity Corporation (SEC) for the Qurayyah CCPP as its Consultant. The scope of work comprises amongst others the site supervision with a strong team of management staff, various discipline engineers, quality control staff and Local inspectors. Therefore, LI works in a joint venture with Saud Consult as Local partner.The Project is the “Conversion of Qurayyah Open Cycle Power Plant to Combined Cycle Power Plant”. The open cycle power plant is in operation. Contractor is processing with final works.The CCPP will consist of 5 units; it is designed in a 3+1 configuration, with 15 GE Frame 7FA gas turbines. The envisaged final generation capacity will be approximately 3.2 GWel.The engineering phase for the steam part of the CCPP is currently in progress. Construction works started in September 2010. The proposed project completion date is early 2013. Moreover, an extension by a sixth block has already commencedand is also taken care of by a LI site supervision team.The Contractor is a Consortium of Arabian BEMCO and DOOSAN Heavy Industries. Due to the specific requirements in Saudi Arabia the contract (local work contract) has to be concluded between LI’s branch office in Dammam and the Freelance Employee. The payment will be done in Saudi Riyals. Additionally to the monthly salary a single fully furnished camp accommodation, laundry services,transportation (one vehicle per team incl. insurance) on site will be provided free of charge, canteen on site with three free meals per day, health and social insurance, paid leave of thirty (30) calendar days, calculated on basic salary. LI will provide an economy class return air ticket from/to KSA/home at the beginning and at the end of his assignment, not exceeding the amount of EUR 1,200/-per trip. Working hours are ten hours per day and six-days per week.Our total team will comprise ten expatriate experts plus approximately 40 Local experts.Task: - Supervision/Monitoring of Site activities such as erection, installation, testing and Commissioning in close co-operation with and under the supervision of LI’s Discipline Section Head and Senior Staff.- Factory inspection of equipment at manufacturer and factory acceptance tests.- Supervision and Monitoring of defined test procedures, start up sequences, reliability test runs and performance tests.- Monitoring of functional and operational tests of various equipments in order to prepare the equipment to the first start up.- Monitoring of reliability test runs and performance tests.- Verification of the compliance of test results with the design and reliability requirements.- Preparation of inspection reports, certificates, progress reports and site correspondence. Master’s or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)Minimum of seven years of engineering and/or construction and project management experience in power plant projects, at least three years on Commissioning. Fluent English; German capabilities are advantageousOf utmost importance for all positions besides technical skills are political tact and cultural empathy in order to form a beneficial work climate with the client's own staff.
